Kurt Stein, Founder & President of HouseScan Inspections, earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Engineering from Penn State University. His knack for problem solving led him to Northeast Florida to pursue a career in engineering and operations working for several large manufacturers.
After purchasing several homes in Northeast Florida, Kurt’s exposure and interest in real estate expanded, and he soon recognized a significant opportunity for improvement in the historically unchanged home inspection industry that could benefit home buyers and real estate agents, alike. In 2017, with a slew of improvements in mind, HouseScan Inspections was born, and Kurt has never looked back. In just a few short years, Kurt and his team at HouseScan Inspections have grown to become the largest and highest-rated home inspection company in Northeast Florida. Every day he looks to improve his team, systems, and processes in a continuous effort to deliver the “ultimate home inspection experience.”
A recognized leader in the local business community, Kurt’s entrepreneurial impact has earned him numerous accolades. He is a member of the Leadership Jacksonville Class of 2025, a graduate of The Jim Moran Institute Small Business Executive Program, and was recently honored as a 2026 Top Entrepreneur by the Jax Daily Record. Outside of his professional pursuits, Kurt enjoys traveling and staying active through sports, but he is most at home spending quality time with his family and finding ways to leave the world better than he found it.
As Director of Operations at HouseScan Inspections, Jillian Walker manages the administrative team and handles the behind-the-scenes work that ensures top-notch customer service and accurate inspection reports. Known for her professionalism and problem-solving abilities, Jillian is a key contributor to the success of the team.
Born and raised in Jacksonville, FL, Jillian grew up around construction with a marine contractor father and a retail store manager mother. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of North Florida and has recently earned her Master’s Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. Jillian brings 12 years of Office Management experience, having worked with electrical contractors, plumbing contractors, and multiple real estate teams.
Outside of work, Jillian enjoys creative hobbies such as painting, sewing, and cooking. In her downtime, she loves reading, solving jigsaw puzzles, and spending time with her husband and two dogs.
Devin Johnson has always been passionate about the outdoors and construction, growing up in coastal Florida with a General Contractor father. After earning a B.S. in Natural & Cultural Resource Management from Georgia Southern University, Devin completed an internship with the Bureau of Land Management in California. He later served in a leadership role with a college ministry in South Carolina before returning to Florida to work as a biologist for an aquatic management company.
Devin’s background and love for construction naturally led him to a career as a home inspector, where he combines his expertise with a strong commitment to integrity and diligence. His dedication and thoroughness have established him as one of Jacksonville’s most trusted inspectors. As Field Manager at HouseScan, Devin now oversees the training of new inspectors, ensuring high standards of quality and professionalism.

A Jacksonville native, Josh Schumm spent his childhood living on Mayport Naval Base. His professional career began in corrections, where he served as a corrections officer and firearms instructor. Josh also proudly served in the Marine Corps Reserves, where his attention to detail and strong communication skills were essential to his success.
These skills transitioned seamlessly into his role as a home inspector. At HouseScan, Josh leads the company in inspections for military personnel and veterans, ensuring they receive top-tier service with a $25 discount as a token of appreciation.
Josh is a proud father of two daughters. When he’s not spending time with his wife, children, and two dogs, you can find him enjoying the outdoors, working out, or riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle.
A Jacksonville native, Daven Brier began his career as a Health Insurance Specialist after graduating from FSCJ. A man of faith and service, Daven spent many years attending and serving at his church before joining the church staff full-time as a Graphic Designer and Facilities Manager.
In 2018, Daven became licensed and certified to perform home inspections, founding Forever Home Inspections. He also earned his real estate license, adding valuable knowledge to his expertise in the housing industry. After meeting Kurt Stein and staying in touch, Daven joined HouseScan Inspections in mid-2019, where he is known for his thoroughness and professionalism, consistently receiving high praise from clients.
Outside of work, Daven enjoys spending time with his wife and four children, playing disc golf, and competing in flag football.
Raised in Central Florida, Shaun began his career in music, touring with a band after high school. He later transitioned into hospitality and retail, where he accumulated over 12 years of leadership experience in management roles with companies such as Panera Bread, Apple, Carvana, FedEx, and Casper Sleep.
After purchasing a home in Jacksonville in 2020 and experiencing the high-quality service from HouseScan Inspections, Shaun knew he wanted to be part of the team. He joined HouseScan in the fall of 2020, bringing his strong communication skills and extensive management experience to every client interaction.
Outside of work, Shaun enjoys spending time with his family, including his child and their two dogs, and staying active with his gym community.
Born and raised in Jacksonville, FL, Scott Andrews attended Bishop Kenny High School before beginning his professional career as a 3rd generation commercial plumbing contractor. In 2013, he transitioned into investment banking, spending nearly 8 years as a Project Manager in the Vendor Management department of a multi-national bank.
In 2021, after connecting with Kurt and sharing a passion for helping others and improving the community, Scott made the decision to join the HouseScan Inspections team. He brings valuable experience and dedication to ensuring every client receives the highest level of service.
In his free time, Scott enjoys spending time with his family, playing golf, fishing, coaching baseball, and competing in local BBQ competitions.
Originally from Alabama, Tyler began his career in law enforcement after graduating from high school and serving in the United States Marine Corps Reserves. In 2013, he started at the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office and later continued his law enforcement career with the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office when he and his wife moved to Florida in 2019.
Tyler’s career in law enforcement honed his attention to detail, communication skills, and ability to handle tough situations. In the summer of 2021, Tyler transitioned to home inspections and joined the HouseScan Inspections family.
When he’s not inspecting homes, Tyler enjoys spending time with his wife, daughter, and their three cats. He also enjoys Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, smoking meats, and visiting craft breweries around Jacksonville. Tyler is an Alabama Crimson Tide and Jacksonville Jaguars football fan.
Born and raised in rural southern New Jersey, Dom moved to Jacksonville after high school to explore new career opportunities. He started in the restaurant industry before transitioning to warehousing and logistics. Eventually, Dom decided to get licensed as a Home Inspector and began working under an established home inspection company in Northeast Florida.
After reassessing his career options, Dom joined HouseScan Inspections, where he now plays a key role in both the insurance and home inspection sides of the business. Dom provides thorough inspections for homeowners across Northeast Florida, delivering valuable insights and ensuring peace of mind.
Outside of work, Dom is passionate about sports and enjoys spending time with his family.
Originally from Pennsylvania, Denny has lived in Northeast Florida since he was 10. He spent 18 years working in his family’s flooring business, handling everything from management and sales to installation and training, until it was sold after over 20 years. He then joined a large window coverings company, where he focused on sales, production, installations, and training for nearly eight years.
With a long-time passion for real estate, Denny earned his Home Inspector License and Certified Professional Inspector endorsement from InterNACHI in January 2022. In 2025, Denny made the leap to pursue home inspections full time, bringing him to HouseScan where he has fit right in.
Outside of work, Denny enjoys time with his high school sweetheart, now his wife, and their two kids, an 18-year-old son and a 13-year-old daughter. The family loves the beach, movies, traveling, and cruising in their classic Oldsmobile to car shows or weekend coffee runs.
Born and raised in Jacksonville, FL, Blake Haliburton has built a diverse skill set across multiple trade industries, with a longstanding interest in home inspection. His curiosity and dedication to understanding every aspect of home construction led him to pursue a career where he could apply his technical expertise while helping homeowners make informed decisions.
With hands-on experience in aviation maintenance, residential remodeling, and electrical/plumbing/HVAC work, Blake brings a well-rounded perspective to the HouseScan team. Blake’s extensive knowledge, keen attention to detail, and energy make him a valuable addition to the HouseScan family.
Outside of work, Blake enjoys woodworking, exploring state parks, and road trips.
Born in Jacksonville, FL, Gage Tarashik spent most of his childhood in York, Pennsylvania, with a brief stint in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. A lifelong football enthusiast and former player, Gage currently coaches 10u football at University Christian in his free time. Professionally, he has 12 years of experience in pool and spa sales and service, bringing a wealth of customer service and technical knowledge to the HouseScan team.
Outside of inspections, Gage enjoys spending weekends with family and friends, indulging in music, comedy, and cooking, or coaching youth sports. He’s an avid Jacksonville Jaguars fan and brings the same passion to his work that he does to the football field.

When not working, Shawn loves spending time outdoors, especially on the water where he can enjoy his passion for boating and fishing. He also takes great pride in renovating his own home, cherishes time with his family, and enjoys exploring all the activities Jacksonville has to offer.
Originally from the Atlanta area and raised on Amelia Island, Austin has developed a diverse skill set across multiple industries, with a strong appreciation for how homes are built and maintained. His curiosity and hands-on approach led him to explore welding with Toyota in the Midwest before moving into construction and remodeling, where he advanced to foreman and managed residential projects from start to finish.
His extensive background in construction and natural eye for detail made home inspection a perfect next step. Now part of the HouseScan team, Austin uses his experience to help homeowners understand the true condition of their properties and make confident decisions.
Outside of work, Austin enjoys motorsports, boating, and tackling woodworking projects around the house, always staying active and hands-on with whatever he builds or improves.
Jacob was born in Tennessee and raised in Charleston, South Carolina. He attended Newberry College, earning a bachelor’s degree in Sport Management and Business Administration while also competing as a member of the college’s soccer team.
In 2022, Jacob moved to Florida and began his career in home inspections alongside his family, gaining hands-on experience and developing a thorough understanding of residential properties and construction. Jacob takes pride in providing clear, honest, and reliable inspections, ensuring every client feels well taken care of.
Outside of work, Jacob enjoys spending time with his wife and his two cats. He also enjoys playing sports and is a fan of the Tennessee Volunteers and Tottenham Hotspur Football Club.
Born and raised in Jacksonville, FL, Dylan attended Bishop Kenny High School before earning a degree in Business Management from Florida Atlantic University. After graduating, he began his career in the mortgage industry, spending two years as a Mortgage Loan Officer with NewDay USA and AnnieMac Home Mortgage. Through these roles, he developed strong communication skills and a passion for helping clients navigate the home-buying process with confidence and clarity.
Dedicated to providing exceptional service, Dylan takes pride in building lasting relationships and guiding clients through one of the most important financial decisions of their lives. His approachable nature, attention to detail, and commitment to client success help ensure a smooth and positive experience from start to finish.
Outside of work, he enjoys golfing, surfing, attending music festivals, and spending quality time with friends and family.
Leah was born and raised in Grafton, Wisconsin. She is a proud military spouse and has lived in San Diego, Washington State, Guam, Pensacola, and now calls Jacksonville home. She has held many positions over the years, and most recently owned her own cleaning business.
She and her husband have bought 4 homes over the years, and through that experience she became very interested in how everything functions, which sparked her interest in home inspection. Her attention to detail and strong customer service background helped tremendously in her transition into this field. She got licensed in 2023 in Pensacola and inspected for a year before relocating to Jacksonville.
Outside of inspecting she enjoys going on cruises with her husband and 3 daughters, trips to Disney, and playing with their dog, a Doberman/Lab mix named Percy.
Josh was born and raised in Jacksonville, FL. He is a graduate of Fleming Island High School and went on to complete the FSCJ EMT program, becoming licensed in the state of Florida. He eventually decided to go into business for himself, owning and operating a local landscaping and hardscaping company for close to 10 years.
Josh joined HouseScan after deciding he was ready for a career change and a new challenge in life. His partner, a local realtor, had an amazing experience with HouseScan during a real estate transaction, which prompted him to apply. During the interview process Josh realized this was exactly where he needed to be!
When not at work, Josh enjoys golfing and spending as much time outdoors as possible. He also loves exploring new restaurants and trying new foods.
Born and raised in Jacksonville, Florida, David grew up on the Intracoastal and spent most of his time fishing, boating, and kayaking. He graduated from Nease High School, went on to FSCJ, and later moved to Tallahassee where he attended TCC. He recently graduated from Tulsa Welding School with a focus on HVAC.
David has worked in multiple fields over the years including sales, retail, and restaurants.
Outside of work, he likes to spend his free time reading a good book, cooking, getting out and appreciating the local flora and fauna, and enjoys unwinding with video games at the end of a long day.
Reese Williams is an Insurance Inspector with HouseScan Inspections in Northeast Florida. A U.S. Navy veteran, Reese served as a Boatswain’s Mate. In that role, he gained hands-on experience managing heavy equipment, lines, and safety operations in challenging maritime environments.
Reese brings a strong work ethic and practical approach to his inspections, focusing on thoroughness and reliability for home buyers and real estate professionals. He is excited to grow with HouseScan.
Outside of work, Reese stays active with fitness training, enjoys time at the beach, and values spending time with family and friends. Grounded in his Orthodox Christian faith, he remains actively involved in his local church community.
A Jacksonville native, Gabby graduated from the Marine Science Center and began her career in customer service, quickly moving up to Assistant Manager in a local restaurant during her senior year of high school. After several years in the industry, Gabby chose to take time to focus on her family before pursuing a new career path. In 2022, she joined HouseScan Inspections, bringing her customer service expertise to support real estate agent partners, clients, and inspectors.
Outside of work, Gabby enjoys singing, drawing, traveling, and spending time outdoors. A proponent of a healthy lifestyle, she follows an organic diet and loves exploring nature with her family.
Born and raised in Jacksonville, FL, Sarah initially pursued a career in the medical field as a surgical tech assistant. In 2020, she transitioned to real estate, working as the Office Administrator for Berkshire Hathaway’s Mandarin location. Dedicated to expanding her knowledge, Sarah joined HouseScan Inspections in 2022, bringing her experience in real estate and customer service to support clients and the HouseScan team.
Outside of work, Sarah loves spending time at the beach with her husband and family. She’s also an avid reader and enjoys relaxing with her dog, Mylea, and cat, Elle.
Originally from Florida, Mia has lived all over the U.S., spending most of her time in Florida, New Jersey, and Washington state. Before joining HouseScan Inspections, she worked on the administrative team at RTSP, a gun range in New Jersey. Drawn to HouseScan by the inspiring culture and pride the team takes in their work, Mia knew right away it was the right fit. She is now a valued member of our Operations team, bringing a warm and enthusiastic presence to everything she does.
Outside of work, Mia enjoys spending time with her dog and the people she cares about. She’s happiest outdoors—especially when she’s at the beach or out on a boat. Recently, she’s taken up sewing and enjoys staying active through fitness classes.
Originally from Hawaii, Ranae has called Jacksonville home since she was five. She and her husband are now raising their family in the same home her parents built from the ground up. Before joining HouseScan Inspections, she worked in hospitality, medical, and education, but her favorite job has always been being a mom. Now that her children are more independent, she’s enjoying the chance to grow professionally while maintaining balance at home. Drawn to HouseScan’s family-oriented culture and connection to real estate, Ranae has joined our Operations team, bringing warmth, organization, and heart to everything she does.
Outside of work, she loves spending time with her family and creating floral arrangements for her home and events throughout Jacksonville.
Born and raised in Jacksonville, FL, Naomi earned her B.S. in Business Administration while working full-time as a nanny. After graduating, she worked as a stewardess in the yachting industry, gaining experience in client relations, customer service, hospitality, and event coordination. After a brief stint working in healthcare, Naomi now serves as Director of Growth at HouseScan, where she leads marketing and business development efforts and oversees the Trusted Contractor Program.
Outside of work, Naomi values spending time with her family and enjoys boating, rollerblading, bird-watching, and traveling.
Born and raised in Oklahoma, Abby graduated from the University of Central Oklahoma with a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice. She began her career in the real estate industry, working in administration and as a licensed agent. In 2023, she married and relocated to Jacksonville, Florida, to join her husband, who is stationed there with the Navy. After gaining additional experience as a substitute teacher and administrative assistant for a personal training company, Abby joined HouseScan Inspections, bringing her strong customer service skills and real estate knowledge to the Operations team.
Outside of work, Abby enjoys spending time with her husband and their dog, Murphy. She stays active in her church community, loves reading and puzzles, and follows a healthy, organic lifestyle
